Over the past five decades, Comor - Go Play Outside has played a pivotal role in shaping the outdoor retail landscape, becoming synonymous with adventure and exploration on the slopes, in Vancouver, Whistler, the North Shore, and beyond. From its humble beginnings as a wire and rope wholesaler to its evolution into a premier destination for skiing, snowboarding, biking, and outdoor gear, Comor has continuously adapted to meet the needs of its customers while staying true to its core values.

Comor's journey began with its inaugural store located at the intersection of East Hastings and Boundary Road, straddling the border between Vancouver and Burnaby in British Columbia, Canada.

Comor diversified it’s product lineup by introducing snowboards, establishing long lasting relationships with brands like Burton, Salomon, Nitro, Ride, and K2.

Comor extended its presence to Whistler, establishing a store on Main Street, situated along the Village Stroll across from a patch of forest that is now the Olympic Plaza.

Marked a significant transition for Comor as it relocated from Downtown Vancouver to Kitsilano, a prime shopping district for skiers, snowboarders, and cyclists, located at West 4th Avenue and Burrard Street.

This Kitsilano location instantly became the flagship store for the company.

Comor embraced the digital era with the launch of ComorSports.com
and entered the online retail space.

Comor further expanded it’s footprint by acquiring Different Bikes, a local, community-oriented bike shop. Located at Mountain Highway and Main Street in North Vancouver, at the foot of world-class mountain biking trails.

The year 2018 saw the unveiling of the new Comor Kitsilano location, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to serving it’s customers with excellence in a dynamic and ever-evolving retail landscape.

Comor Ski Mart, founded by Steve Curell in 1974, traces its roots back to its initial location in Burnaby, situated at the intersection of Boundary Road and Hastings Street. Initially established as a wholesaler of wire and rope, the store swiftly transitioned into becoming the go-to destination for ski gear in the Lower Mainland. Through the years, the company underwent a series of transformations, evolving into Comor Sports before ultimately rebranding to its current name, Comor » Go Play Outside.

Throughout these changes, Steve Curell has remained a driving force, maintaining Comor as a proudly BC-owned enterprise and retaining a majority ownership in the business.

Comor’s success stems from its unwavering commitment to delivering a blend of premium products, competitive pricing, and exceptional customer service. Operating three physical stores across the Lower Mainland alongside an online platform, Comor caters to the needs of outdoor enthusiasts with a comprehensive selection of skis, snowboards, bikes, and related gear. The company boasts enduring relationships with renowned brands such as Salomon, Atomic, Rossignol, Armada, Burton, K2, Lib Tech, Rocky Mountain, and Specialized bikes.
