The Beta AR anchors Arc'teryx's hardshell lineup, meant for winter approaches to summit scrambles. It splits GORE-TEX PRO ePE into two weights: a tougher layer across the yoke and arms where abrasion hits hardest, and a lighter layer through the body that keeps bulk down.
The new ePE membrane is free from intentionally added PFAS and holds up just as well as before, though the face fabric may wet out a touch sooner, a quick wash and dry brings the DWR right back. A helmet-compatible DropHood keeps peripheral vision open, while glove-friendly Velcro cuffs seal out drafts at the wrist.
